Cassina unveils Tamburound, the debut project by British designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby. This small armchair offers a new vision of the dining chair and challenges the traditional formality of this piece of furniture.
In the inviting and compact profiles of Tamburound, a recurring theme in the designers' work finds its place: movement. The backrest and the seat rotate independently from one another thanks to an ingenious swivel system developed by Cassina, encouraging more dynamic interaction between dinner guests. The mechanism, hidden under the seat, is connected to a sinuous bracket that, in turn holds the backrest Like satellites revolving around a planet, the seat and backrest draw two harmonic orbits, carefully calibrated to ensure a smooth and controlled use, allowing both elements to rotate 360°. This feature allows the small armchair to be used in a versatile, dynamic and original way, whether for formal dining or more convivial scenarios such as home working.
